Life on the Lake at Long Cove

Have you been thinking about how nice it would be to own a lake home that your family can escape to with ease? I’m excited to share with you my visit to Long Cove, a luxury lake front community just one hour and 15 minutes away from Dallas. I was so fortunate to be able to experience lake living at its finest on this gorgeous development and do what I love most, interview interesting people for the podcast!

Long Cove is located at Cedar Creek Lake in Malekoff, Texas and is known for its pristine views, resort-style amenities, and proximity to Dallas. You can check out my video of my visit to Long Cove under reels on Instagram. In the video I take you on a tour of the property so you can get a feel of the beauty along with the endless amenities available.

Long Cove was created by Dallas developer, Don McNamara, who is a longtime resident of Cedar Creek Lake and has invested 12 years in planning Long Cove. It all started with his idea of creating a luxury lakefront community with all the comforts of home without the stress of the maintenance. Inspired by visits to Seaside, Watercolor and Sea Island, McNamara created a place for families to unplug and relax while making memories that will last a lifetime.

Long Cove spans 1,200 acres with six miles of shoreline at the clear, deep end of Cedar Creek Reservoir. Life is so easy at Long Cove because the fun is planned for you and all you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy yourself. With everything from a private lake club, hiking trails, biking, beach volleyball, tennis, pickleball, a toy barn filled with games, fishing, amphitheater for movies at night, golf, and a full-service marina, you’re sure to find something that will make everyone in your family happy.

In addition, Long Cove offers year-round special events for every major holiday. It’s so easy to make new friends at Long Cove because there are always planned events that bring the entire community together as well as plenty of opportunities to share a cocktail on your porch with your neighbor.

I arrived on Friday afternoon and as soon as we made our way through the gates, I knew we were in for an amazing time. It takes approximately 7 minutes to drive from the gate to the homes and they like to call it “detox drive”. The thought is that as soon as you enter Long Cove, and you make your way down the winding road, all your stress from the city will slowly melt away and by the time you pull into your driveway, you’ll be ready for a fun and relaxing time.

After we got settled into our Camp House, we drove around to explore the property. Although I read about the amenities, I was still pleasantly surprised by the number of things available at your fingertips. I was beyond impressed with the attention to detail and how the team at Long Cove have literally thought of everything one might want in a luxury lake home community.

We ended the day with dinner at E&S BBQ in Caney City, TX, a short drive down the road, and it was delicious. After we came back to the lake, we sat by the fire pit which was located at Sunset Point where we experienced the most colorful and beautiful sunset and enjoyed making s’mores with the family. It really doesn’t matter how old you are, making s’mores always brings everyone together for to enjoy a warm delicious treat at the end of the day.

The next morning, we woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the water and headed down to the Lake Club to conduct interviews for the podcast. The Lake Club is the central hub of all things at Long Cove and overlooks a resort style pool complete with a waterslide, hot tub and amazing view of the lake. You’ll also find a workout room, a game room with a pool table, ping pong and foosball.

A short walk across the street, you’ll find the play field complete with a fully stocked toy barn. You’ll find lacrosse, soccer, whiffle ball, cruiser bikes and more, all available to you. The play field serves as the epicenter for all things sports and is the venue of many of the community events.

After the podcast, you’ll never believe who we ran into on the play field. The infamous Mr. Donavan from Dallas. It turns out, Mr. D is a regular at Long Cove and frequently hosts events to encourage the younger kids to enjoy the outdoors and be active. Parents and kids love seeing a familiar face and it was so sweet to see the kids run up and give him Mr. D a big hug. We’re big fans of Mr. Donavan and he has been a guest on The Bubble Lounge multiple times!

I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you about the marina and boat valet where they have re-defined boat ownership. The Long Cove Marina offers homeowners dry stack boat storage, and they will also winterize your boat. When it’s time for boat season and you’re ready to put your boat back on the water, they will have it ready for you.

There is also a Boat Valet that will bring your boat to you. Yes, you heard that right! As someone who grew up with a boat, I can tell you this is a game changer. Boats require a lot of maintenance and cleaning before and after use which can be extremely time consuming and not very fun. Transporting a boat on a trailer and launching it into the water can also take away from your fun time on the lake. At Long Cove, you can ask the Boat Valet to meet you at one of several docks around the community and your boat will be clean, gassed up and ready to go.

Saturday afternoon became quite chilly, so we headed back to the Camp House and played a few rounds of Taboo, one of our favorite family games, then we headed back to Dallas.

Thank you!

A big thank the team at Long Cove for having us out last weekend for an incredible experience. We loved our time at the Camp House and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time at Long Cove. It was so nice to be able to unwind at the end of Spring Break and decompress and get ready to get back to real life on Monday!

If you have been thinking owning a lake home, I highly recommend you inquire about the Stay & Play weekend. It’s the perfect way to experience life at this unique and special community. Be sure to let them know Martha & Nellie from The Bubble Lounge sent you!
